‘Simien the Whale’ Nominated for Album of the Year

West Michigan’s only independent radio station WYCE (88.1FM) has announced nominees for their coveted Jammie Awards. This will be the 15th annual celebration of independent musicians and also marks the first ever Jammie nominations for Simien the Whale. “After last year, this is just astounding,” says Zach Guy. In 2012, the band was the recipient of the 2012 Local Spin of the Year. “We are so happy that people continue to listen [to] and request our music on WYCE.”

ArtPrize 2013 is here! The biggest art competition in the world is back in Grand Rapids and Simien the Whale is back too. We’ve added a couple of special shows to our schedule during ArtPrize to promote our entry, ‘Longbound.’ We will also be travelling around the ArtPrize scene with an acoustic guitar at the newly installed Busking Stations. Stay tuned to our Twitter feed for daily acoustic outdoor concert times between Sept. 22nd-29th.

WKAR’s BackStage Pass Announces Summer Concert Lineup

BSPSS-120BackStage Pass, a popular music performance program from WKAR (Lansing, MI) has announced their Summer concert lineup and it includes Simien the Whale!

The performances are filmed live in HD and broadcast through public televisions stations across the country. Simien the Whale is proud to hold down the closing slot of this mamma jamma!

Make your reservations to attend. We are told most performances fill up before the show date. All reservations are free and all ages, you just have to let them know you’re coming.

 

Jake’s Music Festival – April 13th

Simien the Whale will be appearing at the 9th annual Jake’s Music Festival, a fundraiser for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This is a free all ages events, and you know how much we like those!
